About Revel Systems
Revel began in 2010 and has been awarded two “Best Business App” awards in the time since then. First in 2012 at Macworld and again more recently from SFBT Tech Awards. It is an excellent system aimed mainly at large businesses and restaurant chains. Some of its customers include Goodwill, Smoothie King, and Cinnabon. With that in mind, it is easy to see just how well Revel POS scales to fit your needs.

Setting up and running our POS has been a great experience. We’ve encountered minimal issues, and the support—both on-site and remote—has been excellent. The POS is straightforward, user-friendly, and intuitive, while still providing a wealth of robust options on the backend to accommodate our unique business needs.
Functionally, it meets most of our needs and rarely disrupts our operations. However, it falls short in several areas we desire. Despite assurances over 1.5 years ago that upgrades for tap-to-pay and chip & pin would be coming, we still haven’t received them. Additionally, the CRM functionality is lacking, missing basic features like expiration dates. Reporting is also problematic, as end-of-day reports do not account for returns and payouts.
Be cautious with Revel. While their POS system is good, their approach to cancellations can be vindictive and aggressive. I had to switch systems due to a franchise requirement, so I chose not to renew my contract. However, when I called to cancel, they claimed I had agreed to an automatic renewal for three more years through a pop-up message and invoiced me $25,000. This is puzzling because, in previous renewals, a representative would contact me weeks before to discuss the new contract terms, so why was there no such outreach this time if a pop-up was sufficient? Additionally, Revel is very meticulous with changes—they send a DocuSign for every adjustment, and I’ve always received an email with a DocuSign contract for renewals. Yet now, after indicating my cancellation, I’m being told I’m bound to a three-year contract I never agreed to.
